The Less-favoured area (LFA) schema in study area “Bludenz - Bregenzer Wald” (2004)

The landscape in Austria is characterised by the high proportion of less-favoured areas (LFA). These cover 81% of the total Austrian land area. The impact of the less-favoured area (LFA) schema in the study area is according to the natural and topographical situation substantial. The study area "Bludenz - Bregenzer Wald" is located at the core of the mountain area in Austria. The instrument of CA is highly applied by local farmers. Mountain areas are dominated by grassland and livestock farming. Farming conditions are very harsh especially in the extreme mountain regions Großes Walsertal and the southern parts of Bregenzer Wald and Montafon.
